Street style is no more a secret since everyone can show off their own look walking elegantly on the streets or post fiercely a photo on the beloved instagram. We can not deny that this phenomenon has had a strong acceleration in recent years with the birth of social media and the non-professional fashion bloggers, who have the power to influence us becoming real style icons.
There are no rules, today we no longer talk about a single trend, but of several trends, it’s only up to us to choose the right one that represents us. And this is the actual essence of Street Style: spread fashion through ordinary people that mix and match different clothes to create a unique and personal style.
This concept is not recent as we can think because it comes from the youth revolution of the 50s, with the desire to break down a society that forces us to homologate and the willing to create our own look and style. That’s why we have icons like Beatles and Elvis Presley, that have tried to be identifiable through a particular type of clothing, showing their own identity and personality.
At this point, we can affirm with certainty that Street Style is a huge viral and social phenomenon that has changed the way we look and wear fashion in our everyday life through the years. As the street style photographer Bill Cunningham once said: “the streets tell a lot about ordinary people’s clothing if we take a moment to listen, because it’s like an everyday fashion show”.
